Challenge Case

To ensure the integrity of operations signed by Zeus verifiers, a designated "Challenge period" follows any such operation. This period encompasses actions such as locking and unlocking Bitcoin, Solana withdrawals, allocations, and minting or burning.

The implementation of a recovery mode becomes pivotal for ensuring system liveness, achieved through the reduction of signing thresholds and the slashing of offline nodes. This multifaceted security model thus promotes the robustness and reliability of the overall framework.

Challenge Case

In the challenge case, Zeus Consensus operates as follows:

  1. Transaction Proposal: Zeus Nodes propose chain-agnostic transactions, which are then stored on the Solana blockchain.

  2. Signature Aggregation: The Zeus Layer aggregates signatures using the Zeus Programming Library (ZPL), providing programmable signatures.

  3. Transaction Broadcast: Signed transactions are broadcasted to the target blockchain by Zeus Nodes.

  4. Fraud Proof and Security (Challenge period): In case of collusion among Zeus Nodes, honest nodes can secure the network by submitting fraud proofs to slash the malicious nodes, ensuring the security and integrity of cross-chain transactions.

  5. Submit Fraud-Proof: In response to potential malicious activity or collusion, honest Zeus Nodes can submit fraud proofs to the network, which triggers the slashing of the malicious nodes and ensures the security and integrity of the cross-chain transactions.
